Terms of use
Effective 25 October 2026. Last updated 25 October 2026.
These terms are between you and Ahmed Bassiouny, an individual developer ("we", "us"), who makes and publishes Still Kicking (see Contact). By using the app, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains what happens to your data.
What Still Kicking does
It reminds you to check in, and if you miss a check-in and the grace time after it, it emails the people you chose, asking them to check on you. If you check in within 24 hours of that email, it emails them an all-clear.
It's a peace-of-mind tool. It isn't a medical device or an emergency service. It doesn't contact emergency services, and it can't guarantee that an email is delivered, lands in an inbox, is read, or is acted on. If you need someone to respond in an emergency, use a service made for that, such as a personal alarm.
Who can use it
You need to be 18 or older.
Your part
- Keep your contacts' names and email addresses correct.
- Only add people who know you, and tell them before you add them; the app writes a heads-up for you. Remove anyone who asks.
- Check-ins need a moment online to reach us. If a check-in can't get through before your alert time, the alert already queued will go out.
- Pausing stops reminders and alerts until the date you pick.
- If you stop using the app or move to a new phone, use Delete everything first. Without it, your last queued alert stays queued and will still go out once.
Fair use
Don't use Still Kicking to send email to people who don't want it, to harass anyone, or to get around its limits or security. We may limit or refuse requests that look like misuse.
Subscription
- Where it's offered, new subscribers get a free trial of 14 days. After it, Google Play charges the yearly price unless you cancel before the trial ends.
- The price, including any taxes, is shown in Google Play before you buy. (The App Store will do the same when the iPhone version arrives.)
- The plan renews automatically each year until you cancel it in the store. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the plan keeps working until the end of the year you've paid for.
- If the price changes, Google Play tells you before it applies, and you can cancel.
- You may have a legal right to withdraw within 14 days of buying. Google Play handles refunds and withdrawals; write to support@stillkicking.app if you have trouble.
- If your plan ends, alerts keep working for 7 more days, then stop. You'll see this in the app and get a notification each day before they do.
Access codes
We may give out access codes, for example to app store reviewers. A code gives a plan that doesn't renew and ends 30 days after it's accepted; then alerts keep working for 7 more days, as above. Codes are personal to the person they were given to.
Changes to the app
We work to keep Still Kicking running, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may update the app and these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version.
Responsibility
We provide the app with reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for an alert that's late, doesn't arrive or isn't acted on because of things outside our reasonable control, such as your phone being offline, an email provider filtering it, or a contact not reading it, or for an alert sent because a check-in couldn't reach us. If something goes wrong through our own mistake, you have the rights the law gives you.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Your legal rights as a consumer aren't affected.
Stopping
You can stop at any time: use Delete everything in Settings, and cancel your plan in the store. Delete everything doesn't cancel your plan. We may suspend access for anyone who misuses the service.
Law
If you live in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live.
